bitef poliphony programme 2007

hop.la! is pleased to announce call for applications to the new interactive program
which will take place in belgrade, serbia from 24th to 28th september 2007.
as part of bitef 2007 (belgrade international theater festival).
me and you+something in between is interactive program that gathers
independent performing artists from all parts of europe. it is inspired by the book of martin
buber and focused on artistic analysis of encounter in the context of actual controversy that
provokes civilization discrepancies of the broadening Union. the phenomenon of dismissed
encounter is explored through the intimate human experience clashed with concrete social
framework and backdrops, and artistic analysis opens few questions: how much do we
know about each other? in what degree our cultural prejudices influence the increase
of borders, conflicts, isolation and other forms of discrepancies? how could it be overshot?
how many levels are there in each relational phenomenon, emerging from the live and obligated social context? finally, which are the postulates of authentic human encounter?
can we preserve
it pure and untouchable from the social and historical assumptions without losing his full potential
and sense? the proposed questions will be starting point and inspiration for prospective work
based on the cross cultural artistic exchange
of involved participants.
program lasts five days and consists of serial of workshops, round table and working
sessions followed by public presentation of participants’ projects which are conceived and
developed within the program. participants will have opportunity to explore their
own prejudices, to act and react according to their attitudes and feelings, and to
generate the authentic artistic response to the evoked issue. performing artists
interested to develop public or participative art projects are especially
encouraged to apply.
participants:
a. performing artists from europe and its immediate borders;
b. experienced and/or motivated to work on the proposed issue;
c. able to work in english and to attend the activity for its full duration.
registration fee is 50 euro until july 7th 2007 and 100 euro for late applicants.
organizer can make hotel or hostel reservation upon request. a limited number of
fellowships
are available for covering the accommodation, fee and/or travel expenses

no later than august 15th, 2007. selected participants will be notified
fifteen days
after
receiving of the application and will be required to confirm their
